A local service to celebrate the coronation
On Sunday 7th May 2023, the Mayor of the Borough of Charnwood and His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant joined us in welcoming people from across our community for a service to mark the coronation of King Charles III.
In a service that echoed the fine music and liturgy of Westminster Abbey we gathered in thanksgiving and prayer for the work of the Royal family and for all those called to service in our community. The choir led us in rousing music including performing a newly commissioned anthem 'The Mountains Shall Bring Peace' and Revd Wendy in her address reflected on the use of the swords in the coronation service.
A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to the service including decorating the church, welcoming all our guests and serving refreshments. Below are some of the pictures taken by local resident Ellen Troop who really enjoyed being able to capture the joy and splendour of the occasion.
