Music
Music is an integral part of the life of our church in worship, concerts and community events.
In worship we have a strong and vibrant choral tradition spanning the ages, drawing from the best of contemporary and contemplative repetoire alongside the deep riches of the Anglican choral tradition. There is no audition to join the choirs and some people sing weekly others join in for festive occasions. Alongside this we have music groups that lead our contemporary expressions of worship with both the best of both modern worship songs and music drawn from around the world.
Our concerts include a monthly free lunch time recital supported by the Loughborough Schools Foundation and throughout the year we host a range of concerts from string quartets, rousing choirs and our annual month long summer of free organ recitals.
We work in partnership with others in our community to deliver life giving experiences of music. Over the last few years we have run a choir for vulnerable members of our community in partnership with Falcon Support Services and drew together over 100 women to record a song for International Women's Day and during the lock down of 2020 pulled together a virtual choir from across the town to record We'll meet again.
Our music is overseen by our Director of Music, Simon Headley working alonside Kate Burns our Contemporary Music Leader.
The PCC recently reaffirmed our commitment to music:
‘We believe that music is an integral part of the mission and ministry of this church.
In our worship we seek to offer the best that we can of choral, contemporary and contemplative music recognising the significant role that music can play in both individual and corporate faith.
We believe listening and participating in music can:
Be a place of encounter with God and an act of prayer
Bring comfort and joy in a way that goes beyond words
Enable growth and understanding of Christian doctrine and practice
In keeping with our overall church values we seek to offer music that is inclusive, intercultural and intergenerational.’
