Peal of Bells

Bell

On Saturday, December 17th, 2022 a visiting band of bell ringers will be attempting a peal starting at 10am. If successful, the ringing will continue until approximately 1.30pm.

The visiting band are members of the Society of Royal Cumberland Youths, a prominent London based society based at St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square. The society was formed in 1747 and is this year celebrating its 275th anniversary. The ringers in this peal are from all over the country and include members of the bands at St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Birmingham, Leicester, Croydon, Basingstoke, Reading and Loughborough. Loughborough Parish Church has one of the finest peals of bells in the world; we are very fortunate to have the world’s premier society performing in Loughborough to mark the Christmas period.

More information about the society can be found here.

Anyone interested in finding out more about bellringing would be very welcome to visit the bell ringers and watch the ringing at Loughborough Parish Church. We ring handbells every Wednesday evening from 6.45-7.30pm followed by tower bells until 9pm. We also ring for Sunday morning worship from 10.00 -10.45 am and for a variety of other services. Contact details are available on the church notice board and on the web site.
