Summer Organ Recital followed by Compline

Dr Simon Ainge

We are delighted to have our popular summer series of organ recitals back again where each week a talented musician will offer a varied programme of organ music:

This week we welcome Dr Simon Ainge (St John the Baptist, Billesdon) to play:

Andante and Allegro Francis Bache

Prelude and Fugue in C J S Bach

Allegretto for Matthew Simon Mold

Scherzo in G minor Enrico Bossi

Sortie in B flat Louis Lefébure-Wély

Simon originates from Leicester and took up the piano at 7. Having tired of it by 14, is musical life was saved by the organ, and singing in a church choir, followed by a pianistic renaissance a few years later. He held a range of organist posts as a boy in Leicestershire, as an Organ Scholar whilst studying Chemistry at University and as a freelance from time to time, whilst living in Switzerland. He has an ABRSM Diploma in Organ.

Simon studied the organ with Ian Imlay, Tim Hone and Prof David Baker, and is currently Organist and Director of Music at Billesdon Parish Church, Leics. He has several organ pupils and finds himself in increasing demand as a recitalist, accompanist and ensemble director.

Refreshments are served after the recital and then there is a short service of Compline (Night Prayer) for those who wish to stay at 7pm. FREE to attend but donations are very welcome and help us continue to invest in music making.
