Youth Choir in concert for Rainbows Hospice
Massive congratulations to Eliza, Ellie, Edward and Naomi from our Youth choir, who sang in a concert held at Emmanuel Church in aid of Rainbows on Wednesday 7th December. They were a complete credit to themselves, singing four pieces on their own – ‘Ding, Dong, merrily on high’; ‘Child of the stable’s secret birth’ by Hewitt Jones, Edmund Rubbra’s evocative ‘Hymn to the Virgin’ and John Rutter’s ‘Star Carol’ with Simon Headley on the piano.
Gary, from Rainbows, wrote to say that they all sounded amazing and that he’d had so many people commenting on how lovely it was to hear them all and to see them perform with such enthusiasm!
The event raised nearly £3200, which is the most that has ever made at the Loughborough Christmas Concert. Also performing were the Rock Choir, ‘Whistling Keys’, Loughborough Schools Foundation’s Harker String Quartet and their saxophone ensemble.
Simon Headley, our Interim Choral Director and Principal Organist said "I was incredibly proud of our singers – they were so professional and performed so well, the icing on the cake was their singing of the descants in the audience carols which soared beautifully over the top of everyone – very well done!"
The Youth Choir meets on Wednesdays from 4.45pm - 6.15pm in term time and gives young people the opportunity to develop singing skills, perfom in concerts as well as supprting the regular Sunday morning services at All Saints. To find out more contact Simon Headley on [email protected]
